AN HONEST TO GOODNESS FLEA PILL

CAPSTAR is a brand new medication for both dogs and cats. It is the only tablet that kills fleas. It starts to work within 30 minutes and will totally eliminate fleas within 6 hours. CAPSTAR kills fleas fast with NO pesticide residue, NO odor, NO messy application and NO drying time. You will literally see fleas falling off your pet. The drug is totally eliminated from your pets system within 24 hours so it is safe to give on a daily basis. However, CAPSTAR effectively reduces even the most severe flea infestations when given on a weekly basis when it is part of an overall program that is aimed at breaking the life cycle such as SENTINEL heartworm preventative for dogs or PROGRAM injection for cats. CAPSTAR does not kill ticks.

Dental X-Rays and Comprehensive Pain Management

We are very proud that we are the first animal clinic in our area to offer state of the art dental care. One of the most painful conditions any pet or person can experience is a toothache. Dental pain can be unbearable and no pet should be sentenced to eat with ongoing dental pain or infection.  At our clinic we offer comprehensive pain management including novocaine pain blocks, anti-inflammatories and pain medications similar to what you might be given after having your wisdom teeth extracted. We are the only clinic between Metro Atlanta and Chattanooga equiped to offer dental x-rays. We have made this investment so that we can diagnose painful dental conditions early and make intelligent decisions on which teeth can be saved and which must be removed in order to insure that your pet is able to enjoy his meals pain free.

Three Year Vaccine Protocols

We now offer 3 year vaccine protocols for dogs! Three year rabies vaccines have been available for well over a decade. Recently the FDA has approved a 3 year vaccine for Canine Distemper Hepatitis and Parvo. This vaccine is available for dogs that have recieved the initial puppy series and had the 18 month booster. Older dogs that have had at lest two one year vaccines are also approved for the 3 year DHP vaccine. We still reccomend annual vaccines for Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and Leptospirosis. Dogs that board, go to the groomer and play with neighborhood dogs are at risk for Bordetella. Dogs that go outside and are prone to stick the noses where raccoons, coyotes, oppossums and foxes have eliminated are at risk for Leptospirosis.

We do not reccomend three vaccination for cats at this time other than for rabies. While some vaccine companies claim 3 year effectiveness and some veterinarians and consumer groups advocate three years vaccination protocols for cats, these are strictly off label reccomendations. As of this date no cat vaccines other than rabies have FDA approval for 3 years. When they are available we will offer them.
